On June 1st, 2020 there was a total of over a dozen shots that were heard outside the infamous federal courthouse which once heard the case of The Bundy Family for standing up for their rights with guns pointed straight at federal officers the difference was that on this night there was death not a successful court hearing like the Bundy’s had in 2018.

It was a hot 80-degree night and many protestors were marching as they were carrying and were suited with their tactical vests and other weaponry. Jorge Gomez was on the public sidewalk heading towards his vehicle as the Black Lives Matter protest came to an end and he was one of the many protestors carrying that night.

Jorge Gomez was shot as he was walking away; Las Vegas Metro Police Department is accusing Gomez of lifting and pointing his gun at officers. Officers said that they shot with less-lethal before he got shot by officers that were just arriving at the scene. It must be noted that in Nevada it has been the state law for all officers to have body cams ever since the increase of executions by metro and other precincts around the state.

The narrative is to make off Gomez as an aggressor when in reality he was the victim due to miscommunication and broken laws by the own justice system of Nevada. A dozen shots were heard and fired from lethal to non-lethal all outside the federal courthouse which has over 12 cameras around it and the surrounding area with over five officers being directly involved and over three or more squad cars in the area yet not a single video to proof what LVMPD is saying is true.

Six months later and the Gomez family is still fighting for justice for their son who was murdered by LVMPD, all while LVMPD is still trying to paint Gomez as the aggressor and is trying to conceal evidence such as video footage the one evidence they have chosen to give is the names of the officers: Sgt. Ryan Fryman, officers Dan Emerton, Vernon Ferguson, and Andrew Locher.

It seems that when you are a person of color carrying and protesting outside the federal courthouse for Black Lives Matter is not the same as fighting while white with guns pointed against the federal government and the Bureau of Land Management like the Bundy’s did to win their case at the same courthouse where LVMPD executed in cold blood Jorge Gomez.

So who is Jorge Gomez? Jorge was a comrade, a brother, a son not to mention a bright human soul that has become yet another lost soul to our broken and corrupt justice system that thrives in the executions of Black, Indigenous and or people of color as a whole.
